The new CMC header is complemented by Molex's 28-circuit female power connector to offer wiring harness manufacturers a complete, space-saving wire-to-board connection solution for sealed automotive applications requiring up to 21 A of power.
Designed to perform in high-conductivity applications and harsh environments (10 G, IP6K7, IP6K9K, and -40°C to 125°C), the CMC hybrid modular connection system has become an automotive industry standard interface used in the powertrain, including engine control units, compartments, automatic transmissions, electric parking brakes, and suspension controllers, as well as in vehicle body-integrated electronics. By adopting the high-current, 28-circuit rectangular header, wiring harness manufacturers can now meet the most demanding space requirements, such as those found in motorcycle engine control units.
A key feature of the 28-circuit rectangular CMC header is its combination of hybrid terminals. Designed with 28 solder-mount terminals – 18 CP of 0.635 mm, 5 CP of 1.50 mm and 5 CP of 2.80 mm – the head is an economical, space-saving solution in applications requiring power up to 21 A.
