By integrating power and data lines into a single M12 connector, the CHT reduces installation and wiring costs in process control and automation applications, as well as in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems, telecommunications infrastructure and base stations.

Based on a robust push-pull design, the M12 hybrid circular connector includes four Category 5e data lines and two 10 A power lines. It is overmolded to ensure a secure closure and strain relief. Thanks to the fully shielded four-contact array with a patent-pending metal wrap-around tube, perfect signal integrity and optimal performance are achieved; the two overlapping tubes channel the signal without crosstalk or EMI interference.

The CHT 4+2 configuration is already in production in the M12 form factor. Gerd Klaiber, Product Manager and responsible for the European market for automation and electrical appliances, comments: “Since Molex’s shielding concept for the CHT connector is not limited to the M12 format, Molex is able to adapt the technology to meet specific customer needs and requirements.” Further expansion of the Molex C CHT connector range is planned, incorporating the M16 and M23 formats.
