The five-pin UTL connector improves the work environment for operators working on aerial platforms or in confined spaces. The rear coupling connects to the connector body, which houses the cable clamps and cable glands. The resulting assembly forms a rigid structure that protects cables from strain and vibration, ensuring both the quality and reliability of power and signal connections.
The connector's metal tabs provide an audible and tactile click. The connector is unlocked by pulling the plug and pressing the tab simultaneously. The contacts have a set screw for securing the wires in the clamping cylinders. A five-pin version of the UTL connector with crimp contacts is available for more conventional industrial applications, such as ESD cable preparation. The contacts can handle currents up to 16 A and accommodate flexible cables with diameters from 1.5 to 2.5 mm.
The push-pull locking mechanism and thermoplastic construction of the pins and receptacles ensure safe operation. The five-pin UTL connector receptacle is surface-mounted on panels up to 3.2 mm thick using a nut. The mating surface between the receptacle and the panel is sealed with a silicone O-ring, which is supplied with the connector. When connected, the pin and receptacle provide IP68 and IP69K ingress protection and are resistant to high-pressure water jets. The five-pin UTL connector is designed to withstand over 1,000 connection and disconnection cycles and can be used in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +105°C.
This range is complemented by other UTL connectors and is ideally suited for industrial applications and portable equipment.
