Resistant to harsh chemicals and cleaning agents, these new connectors have an operating temperature range of -40 to +105 °C. They also meet IP67, IP68, and IP69K requirements for protection against ingress. Consequently, they can be cleaned with high-pressure systems and are therefore ideal for use in areas subject to strict hygiene regulations, such as the food and beverage, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Furthermore, the ECOLAB quality seal, along with pending UL and CSA approvals for temperatures up to +90 °C, confirms the connectors' suitability for pressure washing applications worldwide. Other features include gold-plated contacts, high resistance to shock and vibration, and ease of installation. Wash-down connectors ensure reliable data transmission even in harsh environments, thus contributing to high equipment productivity.
The connectors are available in 3, 4, 5, or 8-pole versions (M8: 3 or 4 poles) with a contact resistance ≤ 5 mΩ. The rated current, rated voltage, and rated impulse voltage comply with DIN EN 61076-2-101 and DIN EN 61076-2-104. The insulation resistance is > 10⁹ Ω. The beige connector housing is made of polypropylene (PP).
By combining standardized M8/M12 connection technology with a robust design in the new Wash-down series, Belden has added an innovative solution to its Lumberg Automation product range.
