Because greater flexibility and decentralization of facilities are increasingly required within the industrial environment, it is necessary to implement connectors adapted to extreme outdoor environments, such as humidity or salt corrosion, which require greater protection of the connector with more resistant materials.
Faced with this scenario, HARTING Technology Group tested the use of particularly durable materials such as V2A grade stainless steel. However, this type of material does not have sufficient quality to achieve the desired level of resistance, so it was deemed necessary to use a more suitable higher grade material called V4A.

However, processing V4A is complex; it cannot be precisely and reliably handled using conventional machines and tools. The material elements and tooling required for its manufacture must be coordinated and meet the most rigorous standards to obtain a top-quality product that meets the established objectives.
With this requirement in mind, HARTING Technology Group has successfully processed high-quality V4A stainless steel and obtained a product resistant to extreme salt spray.
HARTING has also demonstrated the connector's reliability by conducting tests that comply with IEC 60068-2-52 Level 4, and has ensured that the M12 connectors are robust and suitable for even the most demanding environments.
