Currently, there is no other magnetic modular connector that offers 2.5 GbE and 30 W capacity for 2-pair Power over Ethernet (PoE) in a single configuration.
“The arrival of 2.5 GbE creates new opportunities to increase network speeds without the need to replace the existing Cat5e cabling infrastructure,” explains Daniel Andersen, product manager for the global market at Molex, and continues: “As the number of network devices connected to the Internet continues to grow, providers are forced to offer their customers increasingly higher bandwidths at competitive prices.”
Molex's 2.5GbE Multiport Magnetic Modular Connectors for PoE help achieve this goal by providing support for new applications across a wide range of network devices, including Wi-Fi access points, IP-enabled security devices, broadband routers for offices and homes, servers, switches, routers, communication peripherals, and PoE devices.
The magnetic elements integrated into the connectors significantly improve signal integrity, isolate DC voltage, and protect the physical layer (PHY) with discrete magnetic components. Furthermore, the connectors are suitable for power devices and capable of delivering 30 W to connected devices and systems in various applications. The power rating can be increased to 60 W to provide greater support for endpoints.
