It is widely accepted that device interfaces and system cables need to be smaller, more powerful, and even stronger. Hirose has developed a new technology to offer this robust miniature Ethernet interface, which is poised to replace the conventional RJ45 connection. The units are specifically designed for use in a variety of fields and applications, including security systems, factory automation (machinery and robotics), communications and data networks, and various transportation applications.

These units occupy 70% less space than standard RJ45 connectors and allow for parallel mounting with an 11 mm spacing, ideal for daisy-chain applications and offering space-saving cabling in confined spaces. The devices are significantly more secure thanks to two metal insertion hooks that ensure a tight fit between the receptacle and connector. Robustness is achieved through five shielded contacts with holes that provide maximum stability on the PCB, increasing locking force and ensuring a durable cable and plug connection. The robust construction also offers excellent resistance to vibration and shock, withstanding 5,000 mating cycles.

The range is designed for Cat 6A performance in Ethernet data transmission up to 10 Gbps and is compliant with IEC/PAS61076-3-124. Data transmission is secure—even in applications where EMC is a concern—thanks to its 360° continuous shielding design, which ensures high immunity to interference.
