The extender is sold in a pack (2 units, Local and Remote), and is one of the most affordable options on the market.
The device can operate over twisted-pair copper, coaxial, or Category 5+ cabling, and also eliminates the cost and hassle of replacing existing cabling infrastructure by being able to interconnect with IP-enabled devices.
The Patton 2174 model allows network engineers to leverage existing cabling installations to:
1. Convert legacy CCTV (coaxial) circuits to IP
2. Replace serial RS-232/422/485 (twisted-pair) circuits with Ethernet connections
3. Improve Ethernet performance in terms of speed and distance on Category 5/6/7 segments.
With four Ethernet ports and an integrated switch, the 2174 can aggregate and forward IP traffic from four sources (light and motion sensors, video cameras, entry card readers, PCs, etc.) over a single Ethernet connection.
