Instructions for use:
Online verification via NetTest II at the beginning or end of each PROFIBUS DP segment is performed in three steps:
• Test without terminator. Both bus terminations must be switched off.
• Test with one terminator. The bus termination at the end must be switched on and powered.
• Test with two terminators. Both bus terminations must be connected and powered. If the second bus termination is powered via the PLC (active PROFIBUS master), the bus disconnect switch included in the package can be used to disconnect the signal wires.
NetTest II is capable of detecting and locating the following faults:
• Short circuits between signal lines A and B, indicating the precise distance in meters.
• Short circuits between signal line A or B and the protection device, indicating the precise distance in meters.
• Damaged line or protection device, indicating the distance in meters.
• Automatic search for slave PROFIBUS DP addresses.
• Interchanged signal lines AB.
• Incorrect or missing bus terminators.
• Incorrect bus termination position.
• Incorrect termination impedance on the bus line.
• Incorrect cable type.
• Reflections
Poor transmission or reception levels
. • Disallowed tap cable.
NetTest II can be used on a functioning PROFIBUS system. In this case, NetTest II works as a monitoring system in completely passive mode and performs a detailed analysis of the data traffic as well as the physical condition of the PROFIBUS line.
• DP Slave Status Analysis:
NetTest II examines the data traffic between the DP master and the DP slaves and displays all communication status changes for each DP slave.
• Event View:
The event view allows for detailed examination of DP slave malfunctions.
• Transmission Speed Scanner
: NetTest II detects the transmission speed on the PROFIBUS network.
• DP Network Cycle Time:
NetTest II calculates the time it takes for the DP master to poll all configured DP slaves.
• LiveList (Device List):
NetTest II examines bus traffic and generates a list of active master and slave devices on the network.
• Display of each DP slave's level
NetTest II displays the output level of each DP Slave device in a bar graph
Functionality as a DP Mono Master:
NetTest II is a mobile tool that excels at the correct commissioning of DP Slaves.
The entire PROFIBUS network can be put into operation without a PLC.
