Second-generation NICs offer an easy-to-use communication solution for acquiring deterministic, real-time data from input and output devices connected to the PROFIBUS DP protocol, as used by manufacturers of robots and complex machines, system integrators, and end users.
The Brad applicomIO range includes network interface cards, configuration software, development documentation, and an OPC data server in a single package for the efficient and cost-effective implementation of control applications. The PROFIBUS DP protocol can operate in Master and/or Slave modes, allowing the card to function as either a controller or a network device. The Brad applicomIO suite empowers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators to develop their applications using personal computers, without requiring in-depth knowledge of fieldbus technology.
Up to eight cards can be connected to a single computer, enabling multiple simultaneous connections. Access to the integrated software tools is via a console, which allows the user to configure and diagnose the industrial environment. For example, the automatic equipment discovery function scans the network to inform the user about connected devices, which can then be inserted directly using a simple drag-and-drop command.
All Brad applicomIO hardware and software has been designed, developed, and manufactured in Molex facilities and is fully covered by Molex's warranty, including technical support and advice. The product range includes connectivity with major fieldbuses such as PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET.
