New modulesEach of the 16 digital channels has a rated output current of up to 1.6 A, with a maximum total current capacity of 9 A. In the 0980 ESL 711 (16DI) module, these channels can be used as inputs, and in the 0980 ESL 700 (16DIO Universal) universal version, they can also be used as outputs in any combination. The easy-to-diagnose concept allows for precise fault location for each port.

Both modules facilitate online topologies and allow the continued use of existing communication infrastructure, such as cable ducts and power chains, without any physical changes. This means there is typically no need to install costly star cabling and additional switches. The universal module also offers maximum flexibility, not only during the planning stage but also when changes are made during commissioning or subsequent upgrades.

The two network ports are equipped with D-coded four-pin M12 connectors, and the eight I/O slots, each of which can be assigned to two digital I/O signals, have five A-coded five-pin M12 connectors. The network ports are color-coded to avoid confusion. The IP address is configured via the web server, BOOTP, or DHCP. The slots on the universal module can be used as inputs and outputs in any combination without requiring individual parameterization. Both modules are configured directly through the control unit's user interface.

The I/O modules feature a robust PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) housing and measure 243 x 60 x 23 mm (length x width x height). Including the power supply slots, the height is 39.5 mm. Both versions meet IP67 industrial protection requirements and are designed for temperatures ranging from -10°C to +60°C.
