GE now offers customers a choice between the fully managed GBX460 with the flexibility, versatility and functionality provided by the OpenWare suite of protocols and switch management software, or the best uptime of the unmanaged version.
The GBX460 with OpenWare supports high-performance inter-processor (IPC) communication between network-centric 10GigE-enabled processing nodes in defense and aerospace applications. Its non-blocking 10GigE port capability delivers high throughput across the VPX board. This non-blocking feature allows the GBX460 to pass traffic on all 10GigE ports at wire speed without bottlenecks.
The GBX460 with OpenWare supports the features required by customers to meet the needs of next-generation network-centric operations: Layer 2/3 switching and routing, including support for IPv6, extensive management of configuration options and protocol, and the ability to customize the software to meet specific application needs.
The GBX460 supports multiple OpenVPX profile slots/modules for maximum flexibility and performance. The standard offers 20 x 10GigE data ports and 16 x 1GigE control ports to support 6U multi-board VITA 65 (OpenVPX) system configurations.
The optional model built for the GBX460 includes support for up to 24 10GigE ports or up to four 10GigE fiber front panel ports for connecting to external networks.
