While a vast amount of data is generated in the field today, it's often not possible to extract and read it all. "In our experience, controllers process, on average, only about five percent of the total volume of available information," says Monika Kuklok, Director of Industrial IoT at TE. "To give an example, to improve productivity by reducing machine downtime through predictive maintenance, a wide variety of data must be accessible, which requires bridging the gap between automation technology and the IT world.".

This role is assumed by the OmniGate IoT I/O module. This device reads, processes, and forwards data in a uniform data model, allowing it to be processed immediately in IT systems. Since the I/O modules already exist in the machines, they are easy to replace with this new, intelligent version, providing older machines with a simple upgrade.

The OmniGate IoT I/O module enables fully scalable access to all native sensor and actuator data, while ensuring high relevance of the forwarded data volume to applicable IoT requirements. Process data is sent to the controller without compromising performance. Optional cloud management and data handling for data storage complete the package.
