The new GEN-3G Ethernet Gateway operates at high data transfer speeds and supports Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus TCP protocols without requiring manual configuration. The gateway's integrated Ethernet switch allows for the implementation of various Ethernet topologies, from linear to redundant ring topologies. In addition to hardware redundancy for power supplies and gateways, Excom also supports logical redundancy concepts such as Profinet S2 redundancy to ensure maximum availability.
Excom can also provide custom solutions for protocols that do not specify a native redundancy standard. Therefore, the I/O system offers operators a standard redundancy framework, regardless of the protocol used at a particular site or in a section of the plant.
Regardless of whether it is used in Excom in Zone 1, Zone 2, or a secure zone, users can always use the same DTM, EDS, or GSDML and the same control logic. This reduces the required technical capacity and ensures flexible use by specialized personnel in different sections of the plant.
