Advantech has announced the ICR-1600 series of industrial gateways with 4G connectivity. This new series is designed to meet the demand for reliable and cost-effective network connectivity in industrial environments. The ICR-1600 series offers advanced features for a wide range of M2M and IoT applications in industry, such as environmental monitoring, vending machines, and surveillance. Models like the ICR-1602, ICR-1642, and ICR-1645 provide comprehensive connectivity between Ethernet devices and serial buses with LTE cellular networks. The ICR-1600 series incorporates an LTE Cat4 cellular module and a system-on-module design that integrates ICR-OS directly into the cellular module, resulting in a compact, cost-effective, and high-performance router. The series supports up to five Ethernet ports, optional serial interfaces (1 x RS232 + 1 x RS485), I/O interfaces (1 x DI, 1 x DO), and optional Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) capabilities, offering versatility and adaptability for various industrial environments. Designed to withstand harsh conditions, the ICR-1600 series operates in a temperature range of -40 to 75°C (-40 to 167°F) and features a rugged metal chassis with an IP30 rating. Its two SIM slots provide backup connectivity to ensure continuous network availability, making these routers ideal for demanding environments where reliability is critical. Its 9 to 48 VDC input power range ensures compatibility with various industrial power systems and allows for optional DIN rail mounting for secure installation in control cabinets.
The ICR-1600 series also integrates with WebAccess/DMP, an intelligent connectivity software platform designed for provisioning, monitoring, and managing Advantech IoT routers and gateways. This platform ensures the availability of secure, contactless devices and simplifies pre-provisioning and configuration for installations of any size. With its multi-user capability, WebAccess/DMP supports permission-based user monitoring. The platform also offers scalable, real-time device status monitoring and an extensible architecture built for seamless integration with existing services via a secure RESTful API.
ICR-OS is an operating system for Advantech cellular routers that offers a web-based graphical user interface for easy configuration and monitoring. The Linux-based operating system ensures robust cybersecurity and future-proofing options through retrofit capabilities. The ICR-1600 series offers a high degree of software compatibility, advanced security measures such as HTTPS, SSH, VPN tunneling, and various authentication and encryption methods. It also features numerous firmware management capabilities, including over-the-air updates and diagnostic functions.
