The FLEXtra twinRepeater offers an excellent way to extend a Profibus/MPI network (up to 1 km with two FLEXtra twinRepeaters), increasing the number of nodes and expanding the system. It can also be installed in MPI networks. In particular, the FLEXtra twinRepeater can be used to extend branch lines as independent segments. Each segment has an LED that displays the current bus status. The FLEXtra twinRepeater electrically isolates the two Profibus segments and is equipped with a switch to deactivate the repeater function. This switch separates the segments, which nevertheless remain operational. The electrical connection between the two segments is made via two DB9 connectors; consequently, two Profibus connectors are required to link the Profibus cables.
FLEXtra multi-repeaters allow you to create star networks, functioning like a hub. Additional features include: expansion up to 6 network segments, increased number of devices on the network, functionality as a bus extension or branch, and galvanic isolation between each segment.
