The ODF can be configured with splice modules, patch modules, and combination modules, which are mounted using a quick, tool-free installation technique. A single ODF unit can manage up to 2034 fibers. The system guarantees a maximum bend radius of 40 mm, a crucial factor for reliable, stress-free fiber management and a quality standard for future high-capacity and xWDM applications. Constructed from aluminum profiles, the ODF has basic dimensions of 300 x 300, 600 x 300, or 900 x 300 mm and a height of 2.2 m. R&M has eliminated the front struts, providing technicians and maintenance personnel with greater freedom of movement.
The foldable splice unit also serves as an integrated workbench. The splice module is equipped with 48 SC or 24 SE splice trays from the SCM range, each with a capacity of 6 or 24 fibers. The distributor is therefore compatible with 24-fiber loose tube cable. The trays are inserted instantly into the module and can be moved from one to another like index cards in a filing cabinet. Each tray supports assignments by location, by part of a location, or by specific subscribers. A space for interchangeable labels and the use of numbers and color codes facilitate the management of large quantities of fibers. The patch module can be used for distribution applications or to connect pre-terminated cables. Up to twelve inserts per module are possible, each with twelve LCduplex, SCRJ, or E2000™ Compact connectors. It is compatible with mini-breakouts, multi-patch cables and cable bundles, as well as R&M VARIOline pre-terminated cables. R&M also offers a combined module for the ODF that brings together the splicing and patching sections in a single housing, also available as a pre-terminated and factory-tested unit.
The expansion of broadband networks is causing exponential growth in the volume of installed optical fibers. Network operators need new solutions to manage these quantities simply and reliably. For this reason, R&M created SCM, a modular cable tray system designed for individual fiber optic circuit management, suitable for all parts of the network, from the main distribution frame to the building connection point. The SCM range enables a common approach to managing fibers and subscriber connections. It supports current FTTx market strategies, such as point-to-point (P2P) or point-to-multipoint (P2MP) and open access, as well as future high-capacity and xWDM applications for ultra-broadband networks. This allows FTTx infrastructure to be expanded quickly and flexibly or adapted to the specific needs of the network provider. Its large bending radius, 40 mm, is one of the most outstanding features of SCM products, as the absence of stress minimizes attenuation losses and facilitates handling during installation.
