With a compact, gel-free design, these CDT B2ca cables are ideal for virtually any building and campus backbone network where fire safety is a priority. They can be deployed in internal and external conduits and internal cable trays.
They are available in models with between two and twenty-four color-coded optical fibers (TIA-598-D) and in single-mode (G.657 OS2) and multi-mode (OM3 and OM4) versions to suit the needs of each environment.
The gel-free construction offers numerous advantages, including a considerable saving in fiber preparation time, greater ease of stripping and finishing, since there is no friction between the gel and the tube, and a reduction in the use of consumables to clean the fiber.
The new CDT B2ca cables also feature a fiberglass yarn armor to provide protection against rodents and a black HFFR-LS (Halogen Free Flame-Retardant Low Smoke) cover that resists ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Being lighter than other alternatives on the market, these models help reduce load stress on cable trays. Their operating temperature range is between -20 and +60 °C.
The two-to-twelve-fiber versions are characterized by a tube diameter of 3 mm, a cable diameter of 6.5 mm and a weight of 46 kg/km, while the sixteen-to-twenty-four-fiber variants have a tube diameter of 3.5 mm, a cable diameter of 7 mm and a weight of 51 kg/km.
Manufactured in the UK, they provide mechanical and environmental performance that exceeds that defined in the IEC 60794-2-20 standard.
In addition, CDT B2ca cables are supplied with a 25-year system warranty (Leviton 25 Year System Warranties) when used with other connectivity solutions from the manufacturer.
