The QSFPO series meets QSFP+ specifications and supports InfiniBand™ QDR, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel protocols. The assembly is also listed by the InfiniBand™ Trade Association (IBTA) as tested and accepted by the IBTA for its compliance with the InfiniBand™ architecture. Integrated within the cable connector is the optical link, which converts the electrical signal to optical with four channels transmitting an added bandwidth of 40 or 56 Gbps. The motorized design allows for easy fiber optic termination and cable assembly.
The cable assembly is available as a complete or partial active optical cable (AOC) assembly. It features an optical link at both ends in the full AOC assembly, while the one-part AOC assembly is available with several termination options, including male or female MTP, or duplex LC patch cord. The lightweight assembly boasts a small 3 mm diameter cable for improved airflow within a rack and a 30 mm bend radius with cable lengths up to 100 meters. Furthermore, the cable assembly supports lower power consumption of 750 mW compared to traditional copper cables.
A 19-position right-angle connector (QSFP8 Series) and housing (QSFPC Series) complete the QSFP+ active optical cable system and are available together as a kit (QSFPK Series). It features press-fit termination on the housing, as well as a heat sink option for temperature control. The cable assembly with a pull tab allows for belly-to-belly mounting, compatible with the housing.
