Designed for FTTx and industrial applications, Molex SC/APC connector assemblies allow a bend radius of up to 5.00 mm and minimal return loss of less than 60 dB, making them ideal for transmitting large amounts of data and video signals.
“As a logical alternative to standard SC/APC connector and cable assemblies, the highly flexible and rugged SC/APC fiber cables are designed to optimize signal transmission in applications with limited cable routing space,” says Eve Leal, program manager at Molex. She adds, “Much more flexible than conventional optical cables, our SC/APC connector assemblies come standard with 4.80 mm outer diameter cables suitable for use in harsh indoor and outdoor environments.”
All Molex SC/APC versions utilize precision-engineered, ceramic, forward-of-the-bend splice sleeves and a one-piece body design that provides fast and cost-effective terminations in both factory and outdoor settings. The pre-polished ceramic sleeves minimize polishing time and maintain their shape upon termination. The SC connectors feature a push-pull mating mechanism that meets the most stringent industry requirements.
A variety of single- and double-coupling SC adapters are available, including threaded and quick-connect fittings, as well as optional adapter shutters. The adapters are equipped with a spring-loaded shutter that automatically closes when a connector is separated from the adapter to protect it from laser radiation and dust ingress. SC adapters with EMI shielding are also available.
“Featuring a robust PVC jacket, Molex SC/APC connectors are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and are ideal for any FTTx installation, including harsh industrial environments such as mining, oil refineries, heavy equipment, and automation,” says Eve Leal.
In addition to standard indoor and outdoor SC/APC connectors, adapters, and cables, Molex offers custom SC/APC cable solutions tailored to customer specifications for length, labeling, and jacket colors to meet the most demanding design requirements.
