Their objective is to guarantee the integrity of large infrastructures by immediately reporting any fiber optic cable break or anomaly.
Consequently, these detectors are especially suited to sound an alarm by closing a voltage-free contact if the fiber optic loop connecting the transmitter and receiver is broken.
Thus, these devices can warn of the theft of items that mechanically penetrate the fiber optic loop, such as solar panels.
The new break detectors can be interconnected, either in cascade or in loop configurations, allowing for coverage of perimeters using the least amount of fiber possible.
Furthermore, since they require no adjustments for installation, they offer a plug-and-play solution whose correct operation can be verified via optical signaling.
The NSF7 detectors are available in rack-mount versions (NSF712x11) measuring 35 × 129 × 167 mm (7TE and 3U sub-chassis) and weighing 470 g, and in DIN rail/standalone versions (NSF712x16) measuring 41 × 106 × 84 mm and weighing 250 g.
All models, which operate in a temperature range of -40 to +74 °C, feature a PAWAL or 12 to 24 Vdc/Vac ± 15% power supply, an MTBF of 100,000 hours, and a current consumption of 110 mA.
The combination of accuracy and robustness makes these detectors ideal for environments requiring continuous and efficient monitoring, providing an essential tool for maintaining control over large areas at a low cost.

Applications:
NSF7 fiber optic loop break detectors can be integrated into a wide range of security systems, encompassing perimeter control and the detection of theft and unauthorized entry.
One of the most common applications is remote perimeter monitoring: the fiber is installed within the fence's braiding or camouflaged against it, and in the event of a cut, ram-raid, or other type of intrusion, the fiber break is detected and an alert is generated. Real-time monitoring of unauthorized entry (doors and windows) is also possible.
Solar installations are another area where the NSF7 family is well-suited. The fiber optic cable is woven between the panels, and if any component is stolen, the fiber loop break is detected and an alarm is triggered.
Other more “creative” solutions with the new break detectors include the use of simple mechanisms that act on the fiber generating shear, which facilitates the incorporation of footstep or climb detectors in specific areas such as railings or delimited areas.
