The FID-30R includes an optical power meter and succeeds the FID-25R, while the updated standard model, the FID-31R, replaces the FID-26R. The fiber identifiers, used to detect the presence of light in optical fibers, include three detection functions: TONE, TRAFFIC, and ONU.

Both models include a trigger clamp for macro-bending the fiber to filter the light detected by two photosensors. The fiber identifiers can detect the presence of various types of light signals and indicate their directions.

Fid-31r-wThe trigger lock function ensures the fiber is clamped with consistent pressure, while the 2.4" color LCD touchscreen, equipped with a backlight, allows the user to view the expected optical power of the fiber and select the desired wavelength of 1310, 1490 nm, or 1550 nm. Modulated tone identification is provided at 270 Hz, 1 kHz, and 2 kHz, along with continuous wave and ONU signals. Users can also choose from three detection sensitivity modes: normal, fast, and fine.

Other features of the battery-operated FID30R/FID31R include rugged design, easy-to-use fiber clamp, status indicator, and adjustable settings for hold result, ringer volume, backlight brightness, auto-dimming, and auto-off.

The fiber identifiers can be used for UV coated fibers, 0.9 mm diameter fiber, fiber cord up to 3 mm in diameter, and fiber tape with a maximum of 12 fibers.
