Building management and automation systems rely on the BACnet protocol to manage and control energy costs and operate facilities more efficiently. Sierra Monitor's FieldServer line of protocol gateways supports over 140 different industrial automation protocols, with more than 200,000 units installed. The Sierra Monitor product line includes the BACnet Explorer Next Generation (NG) and the BACnet Router, which are specifically designed to integrate with networks and devices using the BACnet automation protocol.
Like standard BACnet Explorers, Sierra Monitor's BACnet Explorer NG automatically detects BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP devices and includes write capabilities for testing newly installed devices or debugging the network. While traditional Explorer packages require a user to be physically seated in front of a PC to run the Explorer application, BACnet Explorer NG is a compact, standalone gateway available with Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, allowing users to install and access the Explorer from anywhere.
The Sierra Monitor BACnet router offers a complete BACnet network interconnection solution for BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, and BACnet MS/TP networks, while also providing a secure cloud connection. The device is available in single or dual serial port models with Ethernet for establishing BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, or BACnet MS/TP connections, and BACnet/IP to BACnet/IP or BACnet Ethernet connections.
All Sierra Monitor BACnet routers include access to SMC Cloud, Sierra Monitor's device management platform for IIoT. SMC Cloud enables secure remote access to web applications that are available locally on the BACnet router. When accessed remotely, these applications provide system integrators with the functionality to configure, monitor, log, diagnose, and update systems remotely, minimizing on-site visits.
