By using fiber optic cabling to extend the distance and providing PoE power to the camera over copper UTP cabling, OmniConverter fiber-to-copper converters extend the deployable range of cameras beyond the 100-meter distance limitation of copper cabling. Classified as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), OmniConverter media converters are capable of providing PoE (15 Watts), PoE+ (30 Watts), or HPoE (60 Watts) to multiple Axis cameras using UTP cabling.
Omnitron Systems is the first company to offer high-power 60W Gigabit PoE converters in a compact form factor, meeting the demanding power requirements of PTZ cameras. The OmniConverter GHPoE/S models have been installed in 60W AXIS IP network cameras worldwide.
"The partnership between Omnitron Systems and Axis Communications gives surveillance network integrators and operators the confidence to use Omnitron equipment that has been proven to work with Axis cameras," commented Greg Poggi, Vice President of Global Sales at Omnitron. Poggi continued, "Using integrated fiber-to-copper conversion and PoE, OmniConverters make it easy to extend range and power the camera in a single device, simplifying installation and increasing reliability."
OmniConverter media converters are available in Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, with features that facilitate star (hub and spoke) and daisy-chain network configurations, as well as redundant fiber protection. OmniConverter products are backed by a lifetime warranty and are rated to withstand commercial or industrial temperature ranges.
“On behalf of Axis Communications, I would like to welcome Omnitron Systems to the Technology Partner Program,” said Vince Ricco, TPP Business Development Manager at Axis Communications, Inc. “Omnitron’s OmniConverters are a great complement to Axis cameras, and we look forward to collaborating on project opportunities in the future.”
