Aaronia will be showcasing the latest signal analysis solutions based on the SPECTRAN® V6 USB real-time spectrum analyzer at booth 122 in the exhibition hall.

The analysis of radio communication channels across the entire frequency range from 27 MHz to 7.125 GHz, as well as the investigation of satellite communication in the X-band and Ku-band, is of crucial importance. With the increasing use of these frequency bands for broadband applications, especially in wireless communication and satellite services, new challenges arise in the field of spectrum monitoring and radio direction finding. Only with a comprehensive overview based on reliable and detailed information can the optimal use of available frequencies be guaranteed.

In particular, the 6 GHz to 7.125 GHz frequency range, increasingly used for 5G and Wi-Fi 6E expansion, can only be analyzed by a few solutions to date. In this case, precise spectrum analysis is required to identify interference sources and ensure signal quality. This is because different technologies coexist in this band, making interference a key challenge. The SPECTRAN® V6 PLUS series analyzers with a 245 MHz RTBW (real-time bandwidth) enable continuous IQ data transmission, which is unique in this bandwidth. If required, an RTBW with an enormous 490 MHz bandwidth is also available—an option otherwise only offered by extremely expensive devices. This means that intermittent or short-lived signals, which are difficult to detect with conventional methods, can be made visible without any problem.

Another area of application is satellite communication. In the X-band, used for military and commercial applications, and in the Ku-band, important for internet services and satellite broadcasting, accurate analysis is essential to ensure high signal availability and quality. The use of real-time USB spectrum analyzers allows for detailed examination of signals for interference, modulation quality, and bandwidth efficiency. Particularly with high-frequency signals in the 18 GHz range, environmental influences, atmospheric attenuation, and multipath effects pose additional challenges that require continuous monitoring and analysis. The SPECTRAN® V6 ECO series is ideally suited for measurements in these areas. The SPECTRAN® V6 ECO V6-100XA-18 and V6-150XA-18 variants have a frequency range of up to 18 GHz and an RTBW of > 50 MHz. Furthermore, the already impressive standard sweep speed of around 500 GHz/s can be increased to over 3 THz/s via a single USB 3.1 port using a software license.

One of the biggest challenges in spectrum monitoring and radio direction finding in high-frequency areas is the detection and classification of signal sources in dense and dynamic electromagnetic environments. Since many systems operate simultaneously, modern algorithms are required for signal detection and separation. Furthermore, locating interference sources in urban and industrial areas is complex due to reflections and shadows cast by building structures. Combining real-time spectrum analysis with georeferenced measurements and AI-assisted analysis tools can help identify and eliminate interference sources more efficiently.

Signal analysis in the microwave range

In addition to the real-time spectrum analyzers mentioned above, SPECTRAN® V6 Explorer series devices with waveguide technology can also be used. These devices have been specifically developed for microwave applications above 50 GHz. The frequency range depends on the model and extends from 50 GHz to 140 GHz. A real-time bandwidth of 490 MHz or sweep speeds of up to 3000 GHz/s are possible. These features are particularly essential for signal analysis in satellite links or for monitoring military communication systems. Precise measurements are required to identify frequency overlaps, signal distortion, and unauthorized use.
