Fujitsu's future storage system, based on the NVMe protocol over PCIe technology, will allow customers to manage massive parallel data access without needing to increase the number of their storage systems.
Fujitsu's next-generation storage systems will implement native NVMe combined with PCIe-attached solid-state drives to deliver previously unattainable massive parallel data transfer speeds.
The NVMe protocol can process up to 64,000 parallel data streams, while the SCSI protocol currently used in all-flash SAS-based systems can only handle one process at a time. Fujitsu plans to adopt NVMe in future product lines, including its ETERNUS AF flash storage devices.
