As part of an ongoing commitment to support advancements in telecom infrastructure networks, Cavium will contribute key wireless access technologies to TIP's OpenCellular project group to meet the demand for faster, more agile networks worldwide.
Cavium will contribute to and support the design of a complete, production-ready hardware solution for a single-sector LTE 2T2R MIMO (64/128 user) for OpenCellular in the second half of 2017. The design will be based on the OCTEON Fusion CNF7130 baseband processor and will feature a complete Layer 1 stack coupled with the Layer 3 software stack, ensuring easy and predictable deployment. Cavium will also provide open-source access to certain APIs to enable the community to enhance and extend the LTE cell's capabilities. Additional software contributions of open APIs for the transport layer and time synchronization are also planned. Cavium will continue to offer its direct licensees the ability to provide highly differentiated LTE base station solutions based on the same processor technology. Cavium will continue its contributions and support efforts to the community through its latest OCTEON Fusion-M four-sector 8T8R processor, a multimode (GSM/WCDMA/LTE) CNF7330 reference design capable of supporting 512 to 1024 users. This cutting-edge device supports advanced features compatible with 3GPP versions 12 and 13 and provides an excellent platform for dense deployments. Furthermore, Cavium will offer free access to various NFV and 5G APIs to enable the community to expand its reach into new areas.
