“The growth of the Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) market in Spain is largely due to its contribution as a foundation for achieving strategic objectives: it enables the creation of an intelligent digital workspace in a federated environment, simplifies process automation through Artificial Intelligence, and facilitates rich communications through integration with applications in distributed environments,” explains Daniel Asensio, Country Manager of Wildix Spain. “Despite the sector's current strength, the Spanish market is highly fragmented, with small players offering limited solutions focused on specific tasks or functionalities, such as voice communication, cloud services, or contact center services. This landscape will change, and we will see a unification in which only those who can offer comprehensive services will be able to survive and truly capitalize on the market's potential.”.

Unified Communications: a booming market despite the challenges

The UC&C market in Spain has registered very strong figures in recent months, reaching a value of over €429 million with a growth of 2.7%. Although still far from the global growth rate of 11.4%, it follows the upward trend, driven by the strength of the IT market in Spain. In the last year, it has grown by 1.7% and is expected to accelerate to 2.2% in 2024, driven especially by SMEs, which will increase the value of their IT market by 5.7%.

This progress is occurring despite the difficulties and resistance presented by the national market. The obsolescence of current systems, reluctance to invest, a lack of technological skills, and the absence of strategies for developing and implementing new work environments are obstacles hindering the widespread adoption of Unified Communications in Spain.

“Education is essential in the Spanish market. Explaining the real benefits of Unified Communications and Computing (UC&C) and their advantages for digitalization allows many companies to discover the potential they can unlock with the right solution, but to do so they need to collaborate with a full-service provider,” explains Daniel Asensio. “Wildix’s offering is based on combining software and hardware to create architectures that are easy to implement, integrate, and scale. These architectures are based on simple yet comprehensive licensing software with guaranteed security thanks to its Secure by Design development, all delivered as a service adapted to business cycles.”

Current and future needs of the UC&C market

After two years that have completely transformed the work paradigm and the needs of businesses, companies now face new communication demands. VoIP solutions are no longer sufficient; hardware has become an integral component of the overall solution, and the public cloud has become essential for supporting solutions and services.

“Unified communications providers that fail to understand these needs and adapt to offer comprehensive services are doomed to disappear. The market is looking for solutions for its business, not just simple technology. Ease of use and security are demanded, the browser as the access point is prioritized, as is the integration of applications to develop new services and drive transformation, all while maintaining controlled operating costs and guaranteeing maximum security,” concludes Daniel Asensio from Wildix.
