With over 25 million FRITZ!Box devices in use worldwide, what began in 1986 with the ambition of simplifying complex networking technology has become synonymous with quality products manufactured in Europe. In Spain, the brand has been officially present since 2010, playing an active role in advocating for freedom of router choice, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and the protection of user privacy.
The story of FRITZ! began in 1986 in Berlin, when four students started manufacturing data cards for personal computers. Their first success came in 1995 with the launch of the legendary FRITZ!Card, an internal expansion card that enabled PCs to have ISDN connectivity.

Although the company's turning point came in 2004 with the launch of the revolutionary FRITZ!Box, a device that combined a modem, a wireless router, and a telephone switchboard, FRITZ! continued to expand its range of connectivity products in the following years. First came the FRITZ!Repeater and Mesh solutions, which extend the range of Wi-Fi connections in homes and offices; later, it introduced the FRITZ!Dect products for smart home applications; and finally, the more advanced FRITZ!Box routers for fiber optic and mobile network connections.

Besides being pioneers in the all-in-one device market, FRITZ!'s success is due to innovations such as the development of FRITZ!OS, a proprietary operating system with a graphical web interface that allowed users without advanced technical knowledge to configure the router to their liking. The company has also focused on the longevity of its products, offering updates and new features for several years. This has changed the perception of the router, transforming it into a durable device worth investing in.
In 2024, the founders left the company due to age, and FRITZ! embarked on a new chapter. Currently, the brand is present in over 40 countries and has become synonymous with reliable, secure, and user-friendly networking technology, having received more than 2,000 awards from specialized publications. In 2025, it became the first manufacturer to offer Wi-Fi 7 for all broadband technologies, achieving speeds of up to 10 Gbps over XGS-PON fiber optics. This marked a further step in its vision to provide a "Made in Europe" infrastructure to meet the speed and latency demands of the future.
A solid track record in Spain
FRITZ! officially arrived in Spain in 2010, although its products had been distributed through unofficial channels prior to that. Currently, the brand has a strong commercial presence in the country, thanks to a nationwide network of wholesalers, and its products are available at major computer retailers. Spanish users also benefit from daily customer support in Spanish.
FRITZ! participates in key events such as Mobile World Congress and specialized technology and telecommunications trade shows, and also promotes initiatives in the sector, such as advocating for the freedom to choose your router. The company is also committed to education, collaborating with training centers to equip future network professionals.
“Our presence in Spain has grown year after year thanks to a community of users who value freedom of choice in routers, security, and technical quality. FRITZ! is known for its high-performance routers, but also for other popular products such as the FRITZ!Repeater Wi-Fi repeaters and FRITZ!Powerline adapters. We will continue working to make connectivity in Spanish homes and offices increasingly simple, secure, and privacy-friendly—values that define our European essence,” emphasizes Ralf Muntean, Country Manager of FRITZ! for Spain and Portugal.
To mark its 40th anniversary, FRITZ! has created the website fritz.com/40-years, which offers information about the brand's past, present, and future, as well as announcing special anniversary activities. These will include prize draws, promotions, discounts in its online store, and a special presence at the upcoming IFA trade fair in Berlin in September.
