Twenty-two months is the time the team had been working on the “Phoenix Contact Tech Education Metaverse” project together with a group of researchers from the Lemur group of the EPIG, before reaching the grand final in Bad Pyrmont, of the Xplore 2023 innovation awards. The proposal presented, linked to sustainability in the fields of training and digital technology had been selected for the final of the Technology Awards 2023. The project was presented on October 18th at Phoenix Contact's headquarters in Bad Pyrmont, along with 24 other initiatives from universities across five continents. The team from the Gijón Smart Cities Chair, PXR, and Phoenix Contact E-Mobility presented a solution for creating a scalable, virtual reality-based learning metaverse for the design and development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The prize, which was presented at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin by State Secretary Michael Kellner, is endowed with a monetary amount of €3,000.
