This initiative was presented in February 2022 by Phoenix Contact SAU in collaboration with researchers linked to the Milla del Conocimiento – Gijón Smart Cities Chair, led by Professor Pablo Arboleya and by entrepreneur José María Holassian, founder of the start-up PXR.

The project was presented on October 18th at Phoenix Contact's headquarters in Bad Pyrmont, along with 24 other initiatives from universities across five continents. The team from the Gijón Smart Cities Chair, PXR, and Phoenix Contact E-Mobility presented a solution for creating a scalable, virtual reality-based learning metaverse for the design and development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The prize, which was presented at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin by State Secretary Michael Kellner, is endowed with a monetary amount of €3,000.
