Supporting EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) applications for 100 Gb/s Infiniband Ethernet, the PSM4 active optical cable and zQSFP+ electrical interconnects deliver transmissions over 4 km with excellent cooling characteristics, signal integrity and EMI protection, and the lowest power consumption in the optical industry. The exhibit highlights Molex's comprehensive solutions by showcasing 100G links for all types of OEM equipment interconnection, with links up to 4 km in large-scale data centers.
Fully compliant with the ANSI-ratified 66.1 specification, the compact VITA 66.1 dual optical MT backplane connection solution provides VPX system engineers with simplified design and optimal functionality in harsh environments. The system meets the requirements specified in VITA 66.0 for blind-coupling fiber optic interconnects used with backplanes and plug-in modules based on the VPX architecture (VITA 46). It also features a robust aluminum housing for operation in extreme temperatures and environments characterized by high shock and vibration. The Molex VITA 66.1 connection system is characterized by its excellent ferrule retention, optimizing tool-less MT assembly installation and maintenance.
Polymicro, a Molex subsidiary, will invite trade show visitors to test its newly developed 200/230 optical fiber for data communications, factory automation, and process control systems. Exceeding the industry standard of 150 kpsi and with typical attenuation of less than 6 dB/km at 850 nm and less than 10 dB/km at 650 nm, this fiber is extremely reliable even in harsh environments. It is also compatible with crimp and cleave processes and compliant with the European directive on the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS).
Molex also offers a wide range of plastic optical fiber (POF) cable assemblies, both simplex and duplex, suitable for consumer (STB), medical, and industrial applications (wind turbines, propulsion systems, power transmission and distribution networks, sensors, network management, factory automation, etc.). For galvanic isolation and data communications, custom cable assemblies are offered to meet specific customer needs: predetermined lengths, various guaranteed operating temperature ranges, several sheath types with and without UL certification, and different connection types. In combination with the SMI 106108 series of 650 nm transceivers, Molex offers a complete solution for Ethernet applications (10-100 Mbps) and any proprietary protocol (up to 250 Mbps) for distances up to 50 m.
