This growth is also creating new career opportunities across the campus. The center is one of Vertiv's key hubs for developing refrigeration technologies, bringing together research and development, product management, manufacturing, and a Customer Experience Center where customers and consultants can participate in witness testing of a wide range of refrigeration technologies across the entire thermal chain under real-world operating conditions.
In response to the growing demand for thermal systems to support high-density AI applications, Vertiv is focusing its efforts on scaling up manufacturing operations and developing new production processes at its Tognana facility to support regional and global chiller manufacturing capabilities. The company is also investing in a new integrated testing lab for large-scale chillers to validate their integration with liquid cooling systems under high-density loads and extreme temperature ranges. Expanding these capabilities aims to help customers validate thermal performance under their intended facility conditions and deploy increasingly complex cooling systems more quickly and confidently.
“AI is driving thermal demands that didn’t exist two years ago, with higher densities, faster deployment needs, and no room for compromising reliability,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “The expansion of Tognana puts us even further ahead with enhanced manufacturing capabilities, integrated testing, and advanced thermal management systems designed for current and future chip generations. This investment reinforces our position as industry leaders.”.
As part of the center's growth and increased production, there are currently multiple vacancies at the Tognana facility. To support their recruitment efforts, Vertiv will host an open interview event (Walk-in Interview) on July 23 at 6:00 p.m. at SeDici – Caffè Cucina Eventi, Arzergrande, offering potential candidates the opportunity to learn about the company and explore available career opportunities.
Vertiv has maintained a strong presence in the Tognana center since the 1960s, building on the legacy of brands like Vertiv™ Liebert® and Vertiv™ Hiross, pioneers in precision cooling. Today, the campus is one of Vertiv's leading European centers for data center thermal management, integrating innovation, manufacturing, testing, and customer relations. Together with the Castel Guelfo facility near Bologna, it forms one of Vertiv's key European technology hubs. Bologna and Tognana also host Vertiv Academy locations, offering training programs for technicians, partners, and industry professionals. Both are part of a global network of 30 training centers and academies, 15 of which are located in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
“The specialization of our Tognana teams is fundamental to Vertiv’s ability to respond to increasingly complex cooling requirements,” said Sam Bainborough, Vice President of Vertiv’s Thermal business in EMEA. “By expanding manufacturing, integrated testing, and our local talent base, we are strengthening the campus’s role in serving customers in EMEA and other global markets, while also creating skilled career opportunities in the region.”.
