This is largely what will determine whether Europe can take advantage of the €415 billion per year and the hundreds of thousands of new jobs that will be created, according to Commission estimates, if the full potential of new digital tools is harnessed.

The acquisition of situational awareness is one of the areas of cybersecurity research in which Indra is directing a greater effort.

The company contributes to research in this area within SPARTA, a project made up of 44 companies and organizations from 14 member states, led by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), which aims to create the most powerful cybersecurity expertise network on the continent.

Funded by the EU with 16 million euros through the Horizon 2020 program, this project aims to combine scientific and technological excellence and experience in social research to redesign cybersecurity research, innovation and training from the ground up within its borders.

Indra's mission in Sparta is to contribute its experience and knowledge to the development of the most innovative cyberspace monitoring solutions and techniques that make it possible to understand what is happening at any given moment.

The systems developed will utilize artificial intelligence, big data, and data analytics to protect government agencies, critical infrastructure, and businesses. This technology will automatically present potential prevention and mitigation actions as needed, enabling the restoration of confidence in the protected environment of an industrial plant, for example, and ensuring the continuity of its essential services.

The intelligence provided by this technology is essential for operating in such a dynamic environment as the networks and internet of the future. The protection of critical infrastructures such as transportation, banking, and the supply of energy and water, among others, will depend on it.

Enhanced Transportation Security:
To ensure the proper functionality and applicability of the developed cybersecurity solutions, these will be applied to Indra's transportation products. Specifically, they will be integrated into Indra's Horus traffic and tunnel management platform, which is part of the Mova Traffic solutions line. This platform has already demonstrated its ability to incorporate the latest digital technologies, such as big data, cloud computing, and connected vehicle systems, and these new developments will reinforce its performance and international leadership in this field.

Sparta, along with Concordia, CyberSec4Europe and Echo, is one of the four pilot projects that will lead to the creation of a European Center and a Cybersecurity Competence Network.
