BBVA's Madrid data center, with 20,000 square meters of built space and a 1,525-square-meter server room, houses a large part of the technological infrastructure that supports BBVA's European operations. It manages 52 million transactions daily using 2,000 high-end servers.

The growing demand for the technology and infrastructure housed in BBVA's data center is also increasing the requirements for energy capacity, cooling, and space. By providing data on energy consumption, CA ecoMeter enables BBVA to take the necessary steps to ensure availability and increase the efficiency of its infrastructure.

BBVA selected CA DCIM technology after conducting pilot tests to evaluate capacity and performance through energy consumption dashboards, heat maps and alarms, power usage efficiency (PUE) calculations, historical reports, and trend analysis. The solution was implemented in six weeks.

Additionally, CA Technologies' software exchanges data with BBVA's imVision smart cabling software and was loaded with the equipment inventory. This allows for the collection of information about servers, as well as the fiber and network devices that connect them. This consolidated view of the infrastructure helps BBVA increase efficiency and improve change management.
