As President of the DKE, Dietmar Harting has demonstrated a strong commitment to the German standardization strategy, which aims to develop standards and standardization to secure Germany’s position as a leading economic power and open up new markets. Mr. Harting made significant contributions to the European Standardization System (ESS) during his tenure as President of CENELEC (the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) in 2008/2009, and he spearheaded the Future of European Standardization Outlook (FLES). The DKE is the German organization for the development of standards and standardization in electrical engineering, electronics, and information technology. The organization is supported by the VDE Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies and the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). The DKE represents Germany at the European level in CENELEC and internationally in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Dietmar Harting has been an honorary member of the VDE since 2006. In recognition of his commitment to standardization at the national and international levels, he was awarded the Cross of Merit, First Class, as well as the DIN Ring of Honor, among other honors he received in 2009. Mr. Harting has been honorary chairman of the German Association of Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers (ZVEI) since 2004, and a member of the National Platform for Electromobility (NPE) since 2010.
