In a world first, Expo Brussels will equip every part of its 120,000 m² site with germicidal UV-C air purifiers, including exhibition halls, the Palais 12 concert venue, meeting rooms, offices, access corridors, backstage areas, and restrooms. Expo Brussels confirms that UV-C purifiers are effective against pathogens, particularly viruses and other diseases of bacterial origin, eliminating them from the air and surfaces. The purifiers, which utilize a range of technologies to make them safe for use in public areas, are most commonly used to disinfect hospital rooms, operating theaters, ambulances, and public transport. This measure will be in addition to existing regulations, including the use of face masks, hand sanitizer, and the limitation and management of visitor flow.
Denis Delforge, CEO of Brussels Expo, stated in a press release: “We have decided to equip ALL our spaces with new technology capable of killing pathogenic germs. This decision underscores a genuine commitment to initiating the reactivation of the events sector, which has been in crisis since March 19, while ensuring optimal health conditions for our customers, exhibitors, visitors, suppliers, partners, and employees.”.
