Of the countries analyzed, Spain ranks seventh among the top 10 countries with the fastest download speeds, with an average speed of 160.41 Mbps.

Top 10 countries with the best broadband:
Switzerland appears as the most expensive country, at 55.82 Euros per month, however there seems to be a strong link between the fastest download and upload speeds and the highest average monthly costs, suggesting that you get what you pay for, with Switzerland having the fastest download speed of all countries (186.40 Mbps).

Hungary is the most affordable country for the fastest broadband speeds, costing just €13.07 per month (more than four times less than the US), with download speeds of 169.52 Mbps and upload speeds of 79.79 Mbps. This is likely due to Hungary's small size compared to the United States.

Methodology:
35 countries that are members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) were observed, taking into account the price of monthly fixed-line broadband packages, average download and upload speeds, and the amount of data used per hour of HD video streaming (Netflix was used as the download platform).

The average cost of a monthly fixed-line broadband package was calculated using the Numbeo Cost of Living Index (monthly internet price, 60 Mbps or more, unlimited data, cable/ADSL). Data was accurate as of January 13, 2020.
