Working closely together, they sought solutions to implement a new trade fair concept for IAA MOBILITY, a joint project between the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Messe München GmbH. With the Summit in the exhibition halls, the Open Spaces in various locations throughout central Munich, and the Blue Lane as a test track between the Summit and Open Space areas, the IAA MOBILITY exhibit area will extend this year, for the first time, across a large part of the Munich metropolitan area.

The extensive layout of the exhibition halls and event spaces required that the broadband infrastructure extend beyond the exhibition grounds and cover a large part of the city. With this goal in mind, Messe München and the three mobile network providers intensified their strategic cooperation from the outset.

By the start of IAA MOBILITY, a significant number of new 5G sites will have been installed in the city, in addition to further macro-sites to ensure basic coverage in the outdoor areas of Messe München. This has resulted in the creation of one of the most modern public 5G networks for Messe München in just eleven months, including a complete overhaul of the entire antenna infrastructure at the exhibition center. The 5G spectrum used by the three network operators ranges from 800 MHz, particularly well-suited for 5G in buildings, to 3.7 GHz, which offers maximum bandwidth.
