The company has announced that its Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) platform will allow communications service providers (CSPs) to easily migrate their existing 10 and 40 Gigabit per second (10G and 40G) optical networks to 400G networks with minimal investment. The hiT 7300 DWDM platform and the TransNet for 400G optical transport networks will be available starting in the first quarter of 2011.

Nokia Siemens Networks is ready to support this transition by enabling communications service providers to begin deploying 400G-optimized optical networks.”. 

The FlexiGrid technology incorporated into Nokia Siemens Networks' hiT 7300 DWDM platform enables migration to 400G networks by dynamically adapting the network's wavelength grid to the needs of high-capacity channels. This is achieved using the network operator's existing fiber infrastructure without causing any service interruption. Furthermore, Nokia Siemens Networks' TransNet network planning tool allows service providers to plan and simulate the entire optical transport network, thereby optimizing deployment and efficiently managing their networks through the NetAct network management system. With these products, Nokia Siemens Networks not only guarantees cost savings for operators but also a significant improvement in their efficiency.
