The new nanosatellite introduces a key innovation compared to the previous one that Sateliot launched into orbit in March 2021. Unlike that one, this one allows for standard connectivity, meaning commercial trials can now begin. This paves the way for the widespread adoption of IoT under the 5G standard from space.
The nanosatellite is built with an innovative technology made up of 10x10 cm cubes; it is the size of a microwave oven; it weighs around 12 kg and will be placed in a low altitude orbit, just about 500 km from Earth, compared to the large geostationary devices that orbit at 36,000 kilometers.
Its implementation will allow Sateliot to increase its capacity to test the system alongside the more than 500 companies participating in the Early Adopter Program (EAP), giving them a clear competitive advantage and a pioneering position in the market. Through this program, Sateliot has built a portfolio of €1 billion thanks to the pre-commercial agreements established with these companies.
