TE SubCom has announced the start of manufacturing for the new Hibernia Express submarine cable system. The 4,600-kilometer cable will provide the lowest-latency fiber optic route between New York and London.

Connecting Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Brean, UK, with terrestrial fiber to extend connectivity to major metropolitan areas,

Hibernia Express will initially launch with a transmission capacity of 100 Gbps using the SLTE C100 TE SubCom platform. It will be a 6-pair submarine cable, with some fibers optimized for lower latency and others optimized for a 100x100 Gbps design capacity. The total cable cross-sectional design capacity will exceed 53 Tbps.
