The Alcatel-Lucent 1830 PSS photonic services switch will be a key element in this network transformation, enabling Telefónica to enhance the capacity of its regional networks to meet the rapidly growing demand from consumers and businesses for high-speed, ultra-broadband internet connectivity; a demand accelerated by the increasing adoption of 4G LTE mobile services, cloud-based services, and the growth of video and data traffic.
Key information:
· Alcatel-Lucent will provide Telefónica Spain with a DWDM solution with integrated OTN switching and aggregation to support the growing traffic generated by video and cloud applications.
· The solution supplied is based on converged 1830 PSS DWDM and OTN technology and the 1350 OMS optical management system.
The networks will have a capacity of 8.8 Tbit/s and will be prepared to grow to 24 Tbit/s so that they can transport the enormous demand foreseeable with the massification of video services.
· Alcatel-Lucent's 100 Gbps technology will provide Telefónica with the necessary flexibility and self-restoration capabilities based on a GMPLS control plane in each regional domain, guaranteeing high network reliability and an uninterrupted quality experience for its customers.
