Thus, the standard presents seven “Euro Classes,” with their corresponding subscripts, when establishing the characteristics of each cable: “A,” “B1ca,” “B2ca,” “Cca,” “Dca,” “Eca,” and “Fca,” from highest to lowest fire resistance. For example, “Euro Class” Eca could be equivalent to the current classifications HF1 and HF3.
At the national level, this regulation has been reflected in the Adaptation of the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT) by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, which sets July 1, 2017 as the final date of the coexistence period.
From July 1st, CE marking will be mandatory for power, control and communications cables, harmonizing fire resistance classification and consequently increasing the safety of buildings and public roads.
For these reasons, communication cables and all Brand-Rex products affected by the standard will be marked on the sheath with the corresponding “Euro Class”.
In addition, a Declaration of Performance (DoP) will be issued and the label will also include a two-dimensional (QR) barcode with more information.
In this way, the COFITEL Group will distribute the products that Brand-Rex – Leviton will provide, adapted to the regulations, so that they can be used anywhere in the European Economic Area (EEA) and, therefore, provide security and meet the investment needs in cabling.
