ICEX Spain Export and Investment, together with the Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices in Morocco, organized a workshop this Tuesday to address the concerns of Spanish exporters regarding the system change. Through connections with ten regional offices, more than 300 companies had the opportunity to ask practical questions of representatives from the three certification bodies, who traveled to the ICEX auditorium in Madrid.

The regulation divides the products subject to inspection into two groups: those controlled at the point of origin, which represent 80%, and the remaining 20%, which will be controlled at the border. Exporters can freely contact any of the three certifying bodies to obtain certification at the point of origin (since they must bear the cost), while border controls will be assigned automatically and randomly.

The review will be carried out per shipment, and, depending on the product and the type of exporter, it may be only documentary or carried out through sampling, physical inspection or even with laboratory tests.

The transitional period for certification at origin (date of issue) began on February 1 and will extend until April 19 (date of arrival in Morocco).

According to the certifiers, products subject to technical regulations that are not on the list of products subject to control upon arrival in Moroccowill be checked at the point of origin, before shipment.
