The CWDM modules correspond to the wavelengths used in 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s Clr4 and CWDM4 transceiver modules, as well as in conventional CWDM systems. Additional modules operate on the monitoring channel and at OTDR wavelengths.
Conventional CWDM sources are uncooled and can exhibit drift of up to 6 nm at the operating wavelength. This limits their use for test and measurement applications. Yenista's new modules integrate with its OSICS platform and are stabilized in both wavelength and power. Stability is better than 5 pm and 0.01 dB for wavelength and power, respectively. The output power for all modules can be controlled from 0.2 to 10 mW.
Yenista's Sales Director, David Heard, commented: "We have been supplying tunable lasers for testing Clr4 and CWDM4 components. Until now, this has been the only option at these wavelengths. These new products offer a lower-cost alternative on a platform that is already widely used in the industry."
The OSICS platform will be presented at the upcoming ECOC exhibition in Valencia, Spain, from September 27th to October 1st, 2015.
