The new features of victor/VideoEdge 5.0 include vehicle license plate recognition, perimeter detection, a backup system in case of system failure based on SD card recording, and other advanced surveillance functions, offering faster and more reliable control capabilities.

The new user interface of the Victor unified video management system (VMS) simplifies the daily tasks of security operators thanks to its lighting control option for dimly lit management centers. The interface offers a "home" view reminiscent of domestic interfaces, facilitating research and live viewing. Workflow functions have also been redesigned for greater intuitiveness, along with a new navigation bar and a wide variety of menu filters. This places usability and user experience at the heart of the new Victor VMS version.

VideoEdge's new TrickleStor feature allows Illustra and VideoEdge cameras to work together seamlessly in the event of a system failure, thus reducing costs. If communication between the NVR and the cameras is interrupted or stops, the camera automatically detects the anomaly and begins recording video to its SD card. Once the connection is restored, the recorded video is transferred back to the NVR's hard drive. This way, operators won't notice the interruption when reviewing the video later, maintaining uninterrupted line of sight and providing a seamless experience.

The License Plate Recognition (LPR) system sends real-time notifications to security operators to announce the arrival of VIPs or when unauthorized vehicles are detected. Operators can use the "confusing match" option in victor/VideoEdge's Smart Search engine to identify similar characters—such as the number 8 and the letter B—and generate a list of potential matches. Smart Search also allows the use of asterisks (*) and question marks (?) when only part of the license plate number is known.
