The new GSM base station – a combination of the latest compact base station and dual-beam antennas – follows the launch of Nokia Siemens Networks' High Performance solutions for WCDMA/HSPA+/HSPA and Internet-HSPA (I-HSPA) networks last year.
It allows for a six-sector site, instead of the traditional three-sector site used in most current network deployments, to improve network capacity and coverage. The new offering also increases signaling capacity, which is crucial for supporting applications such as push email, Facebook, Twitter, etc., for smartphone users and for adding new subscriber bases to existing network resources.
