The modules have been specifically developed to support IoT applications and are ideal for a wide range of value-oriented applications requiring medium data rates and excellent coverage. Introduced in 3GPP Release 13, Cat 1bis utilizes existing LTE networks but operates with a single antenna. Cat 1bis uses the same infrastructure and standards as LTE Cat 1, so no new technologies or development approaches are required. An integrated Wi-Fi radio scans access points for indoor locations and supports u-blox's CellLocate® positioning service. The LEXI-R10 offers medium-capacity data connectivity with very low power consumption.

The LEXI-R10 series modules support multiple bands and come in different variants, such as the LEXI-R10001D for global use. This variant includes an optional eSIM for cellular network connectivity, a full set of supported bands, and all relevant regulatory and MNO certifications. The LEXI-R10801D for the EMEA region comes with the necessary regulatory approvals, including RED, NCC, RCM, and Anatel. Mouser also stocks u-blox's R10401D adapter boards and evaluation kits.
