Intermodulation AnalyzerThe MW8209A has been designed for use with Anritsu handheld analyzers and incorporates Anritsu's Distance-to-PIM technology, the only tool on the market that can determine whether the cause of PIM is in the base station or the surrounding environment.

Engineers and field technicians can use the MW8209A to help ensure optimal performance of UMTS Band VIII and LTE Band 8 networks by locating PIM faults before intermodulation distortion negatively impacts signal transmission. The MW8209A is designed for integration with Anritsu's market-leading handheld instruments, including the S332E/S362E Site Master cable and antenna analyzers, the MS2712E/MS2713E and MS272xC Spectrum Master handheld spectrum analyzers, the MT8212E/MT8213E Cell Master handheld analyzers, and the MT8221B/MT8222A BTS Master.

Field personnel can use the PIM Master to generate two high-power tones on the base station's transmit band and employ any of the handheld analyzers to measure the 3rd, 5th, or 7th order intermodulation products on the receive band traveling over the same cable. The GPS option available on all analyzers can also record the measurement location.

The MW8219A can perform 40W tests, while alternative methods only measure at 20W. Using twice the power allows the PIM Master to locate faults caused by slight corrosion, heavy traffic loads, or changing weather conditions.
