The BTS Master MT8220T with BBU emulation meets market demand for a comprehensive and accurate field testing solution, providing wireless network technicians, engineers, and contractors with all the necessary tools to validate the correct installation and proper functioning of remote radio heads (RRHs) before installing the base band unit (BBU). This unique combination of measurement tools streamlines 4G network deployments and reduces operating costs associated with new sites.

With the BBU emulation option, the BTS Master MT8220T becomes a complete solution for building, testing, and troubleshooting sites, whether for new or existing cells. It can be used by wireless network professionals to install and verify fiber optics, SFPs, RRHs, and power supplies before the official BBU installation and site commissioning.

The MT8220T BTS Master, with the BBU emulation option installed, can check SFP connections to validate the line's wavelength and transmission speed. BBU emulation also allows the SFPs in the analyzer and the RRH to communicate, verifying that the optical fiber and the SFP in the RRH are operational and have a good CPRI link. The solution enables other necessary analyses, such as transmission tests, VSWR and return loss measurements, pass/fail threshold values, and spectrum and spectrogram measurements.

BBU emulation allows engineers and technicians to troubleshoot independently of the main grid. The RRH can be isolated from other grid elements to determine whether the problem stems from a fault or has a different origin. By verifying that all new cell sites are correctly installed and can be easily commissioned once the BBU is in place, BBU emulation enables the technical team to verify and resolve any issues while construction teams are still on-site, resulting in significant time and cost savings.

The new BBU emulation option requires the MT8220T BTS Master to incorporate CPRI's RF measurement option for LTE, enabling field technicians to perform accurate RF measurements on the RRH at ground level. The BTS Master has been specifically developed for 4G networks as well as for existing 2G, 3G, and WiMAX networks. It offers 20 MHz bandwidth modulation quality for LTE eNodeB testing and features a high-contrast touchscreen with a backlit keypad for easy use in both daylight and low-light conditions.
